Koby, Kodiak, Klara, Kaegan, Kerrick,Kia--6 weeks old

Now the "K" kittens are doing well.  Last week a bacteria ran through the babies which is why there wasn't an update on my blog.  They were okay but not eating a lot and weren't gaining weight because they were eating less than they should.  They had diarrhea which was hard to deal with.  I was doing a lot of cleaning, hour after hour trying to keep up.  Endless bleaching of the litter boxes to keep the bacteria under control.  They had accidents everywhere as often kittens don't use the litter box if they have upset stomachs.  I was worrying and trying desperately to hang in there.  It was a tough, rotten few days.  But..............now they are eating a lot, gaining weight a lot, playing a lot and using the litter box.  They are happy growing babies now and all of us are having fun.  Also last week on Thursday night at 11:45 pm I was giving Matrix a bath on his back end.  I noticed he had something horribly wrong with his back end.  It was swollen and black.  He was fine on Tuesday when he got a bath before his photo shoot.  I rushed him to the vet hospital where we were seen quickly as it was not a busy moment for them.  He had a infection where his brother (sucked his bottom as kittens do and have done for the 20 years I have had kittens) must have broken the skin with his teeth.  He was sent home on antibiotics, hydrocortisone ointment and flamazine cream to bring down the swelling and inflammation.  The swelling did go down and he was eating, purring sitting up and holding his own for weight.  Then Saturday morning I was holding him as I did quite often just so he knew he wasn't alone and he died in my arms. I was crushed and cried all day.  The vet called me on Monday and said she was surprised he had died as he was expected to be okay.  I got only 5 hours of sleep Thursday night and with the other kittens dealing with something I was just hanging in there.  Good thing Matrix, Muffin and Mac were still in their cage and not exposed to what was passing through the other kittens.  But now everyone is doing better and having fun being kittens.

Paris, Pixel, Peep and Puffin

These babies are doing great!  They are eating canned food very well and even a bit of hard kitten food.  Peep and Pixel love my dog and are forever snuggled up with Maggie.  They love the big warm body and Maggie allows the kittens to do whatever they want.  I have even seen them chewing on her ear and she just lays there.  Peep loves to sharpen his claws on feet whether there are shoes or bare feet.  Paris likes to talk and has a little high pitched voice.  Puffin looks cranky but he is a gentle boy.  Pixel loves to play with anyone who is willing.  They are busy little babies and are having fun playing, sleeping, eating, getting a bath when necessary.

How Many Kittens?

How many kittens do you see?  The 10 littlest ones are there having an afternoon nap.
Now you can see little Kerrick's nose out so he can breathe under the pile of kittens on him.

Paris, Peep, Pixel and Puffin

My newest babies are stunning!  They are 5 weeks old and doing well.  They are eating canned food and love to sleep in the cat bed in the living room.  They are figuring out how things work here.  They walk through the house and know they eat in the kitchen.  Their mom disappeared off a farm.

Gunther, 7 weeks old and Having Fun

Gunther really has fun wherever he can find it.  I will miss him when he goes to his forever home next weekend.  He is a gentle baby and plays so softly with the ones smaller than him.  He comes running in the morning when I call him as he is eager for his first snuggle of the day.  What a good boy, I will miss him a lot.

Mac, Matrix and Muffin are 3 weeks old!

These babies are doing great!  We have settled into a good routine.  This morning they woke me up at 3:33 am as all were screaming "we are starving mom!"  So I got up and fed them.  As I was feeding the 6 "M" kittens came one by one into the bedroom.  They seemed hungry so there I was making more formula then feeding 6 hungry kittens.  They are using the litter box now so yay, no more tearing toilet paper into 18" pieces to make the kittens pee and poop.
Now for updates in my busy, busy world.  Galaxy, Garnett and Gulliver have gone to another foster home.  They are at petsmart this week and Galaxy got adopted.  Pickles, Polo, Cypress and Cullen went to Petsmart as well.  Cullen is adopted as well as Cypress (many people were interested in Cypress).  I went this morning to pick Cypress up as her new owners can't pick her up until they move into their house the middle of August so I get to love her for a while longer.  Gunther is 7 weeks old and goes to the vet next week.  A lady from near Regina is coming to see him next week Saturday then adopt him then take him home.  So he won't be here very long after he is up for adoption.  Pickles and Polo will go to Leslie's wonderful foster home if not adopted so will be reunited with Gulliver and Garnett if they don't get adopted.
I got 4 new additions to my family today.  Check in tomorrow to see pictures and their names (I think their names are daringly different).  So back to 15 babies to love.  Good thing my heart grows and fills with more love when I get more kittens so that all the kittens get a lot of loving.
