The Good Part of My Job-the Whole Gang Having Fun

Thai is 4 weeks old, hard to believe he was only 4 days old when he came.  He fits right in with his bigger brothers and sisters.  Aniki, Avis, Alfalfa and Alcott are starting to play a lot.  Alcott is still the one who crawls up on the couch to my lap or waits for my lap to appear.  Avis and Aniki know their names.  Alcott and Alfalfa are down to a bottle a day only because I am a softie.  Avis and Aniki are the smallest so I don't want to rush them off the bottle.  They are eating canned food well so it won't be long before bottles are just a memory for them.  Hiccup is doing great getting off his meds so I can see how he is doing.  Daffodil loves to play now and is very gentle with the littlest babies. I took a lot of action shots as the babies or should I say little ones were playing.

17 Hours

Fresca and I had 17 hours together.  I got Fresca yesterday late afternoon.  He was a fluffy beautiful orange boy.  He had a hard short life but his last 17 hours were filled with love.  He was 3 or 4 weeks old and incredibly thin.  The vet said not to hold out hope.  But I have had miracles before and I was determined to have another miracle.  I held him all Friday evening.  I had him outside for quite a while hoping the magic effects of sunshine would help him get better.  I dropper fed him so very slowly over the whole evening.  He purred for me so I knew he knew he was loved.  I rubbed him and told him how very special he was and how lucky I was to be his mom.  I checked on him during the night and he was holding his own.  Still okay in the morning so out we went for more loving in the sunshine.  He even got to take a few steps on the patio.  I had hope as every hour gave me more hope.  Then around 9 am he took a turn for the worse and soon after he died.  I so cherish the 17 hours we had together and my heart aches incredibly for the sweet little boy who put his paw on my shoulder and purred this morning when we were out in the morning sun.

A Giant Update on Hiccup, Thai, Alfalfai, Avis, Aniki and Alcott

Well, there is never a dull moment any more.  Thai is 3 weeks old and how grown up he is now!  He loves having siblings to snuggle with.  He is a great bottle drinker which makes it easy for me.  He is starting to be interested in the world outside his cage.
The four "A" babies are 5 weeks old.  They are starting to show their different personalities.  The girls have been nicely eating canned food for 2 days now.  Alfalfa decided today is the day to start eating canned food.  Alcott, well Alcott is Alcott.  He is a mama's boy and says "you are kidding, you want me to eat that?"  He ignores the food even when I put a bit in his mouth to give him a taste.  He follows me around and squeaks at me demanding to have a bottle.  He only ate once so far and holds out for a bottle.
Hiccup is being weaned off his medication to see how he makes out.  Once he is off and has done well he will be going to his new home who are anxiously waiting for him.  He is down to 1/4 the dose of cisapride that he started out on.  He has had Restoralax but only once since Friday.  He is eating normal food and seems to be doing well.  He is pooping well with quiet sounds only very occasionally.  He is running and playing a lot.  He learned how to climb up on the couch which he does very often when I happen to be sitting on it.  I put him in bed with me this morning as he so loves to have snuggles.  He settled right in, purred and got sleepy.  I asked him where was this boy when I was trying to keep him warm when the power was off after that last big snow.  All is well in my house right now.  Lots of love and happy babies.
